HELLO from akaihana!

We started "akaihana"(means red flower in Japanese) about late 90's in Japan, just me, my mom and a friend. In our house, we had old Kimono, some was children's kimono that my grandmother made it for my mother when she was little, some was the one my grandmother received from her own mother or grandmother, some was even the kimono that was made from silk thread my great grandmother dyed, weaved to make fabric, then sew to kimono. A lot of old kimono has spots and holes by age, so we use those remnant to make handmade pieces so we can keep and use them everyday. That was how we started, now we make handmade pieces with materials such as old Kimono, brand new fabric from Japan and more, vintage remnant, anything give us inspiration to give them another life. Today's akaihana is renewed, Shizu (myself) and my best friend in Japan, Natsuko, are the only 2 members who does everything designing, sewing, packaging, curating, and even making tags by curving erasers. If you would like to see what we do, please visit our online shops below. Our main shop is on shopify for worldwide, some pieces are available on Etsy too. For customers from Japan, we have some things avaialble on Creema. We have more updates about what we are doing on Instagram and Facebook, so please follow us!
